For Coachella 2016, Uber and a company called Blade have teamed up to offer helicopter rides from Los Angeles to Coachella. For just over $4100 6 people ($695 per person) can fly from Van Nuys airport to Coachella. The helicopter lands about 5 minutes from the Coachella festival, allowing the riders to avoid heavy desert traffic congestion from the Coachella festival goers. As anyone who has been to a Coachella festival in the past knows, the traffic can pretty horrible.
The service includes SUV rides to the helicopter from the LA area and then to the Coachella festival from the helicopter drop-off. Uber has offered helicopter services for the past 2 Coachella festivals, but has recently partnered with luxury helicopter line Blade for Coachella 2016. The service also gives access to an open tequila bar at both ends of the helicopter trip.
While it may seem a bit pricey to take a helicopter from LA to Coachella 2016, when you factor in the avoiding of traffic and a 2 hour drive, plus avoiding the possibility of a DUI, it all seems worth it! Enjoy Coachella 2016 in style and consider the Uber helicopter option. Tickets went on sale today, March 25, 2016 at 12pm Pacific time.
